Recently we have been seeing issues with Outlook search. Typically it will put up a message saying search results are not complete because indexing is still in progress. We have found no pattern to this problem and it appears to affect more than one version of outlook. It appears that yesterday Microsoft finally admitted to the issue and released a patch to Windows 10 and Windows 7 although Microsoft are as clear as mud on the actual details.

The first fix is to make sure all windows updates (including optional updates are applied) as at least one patch to Windows search appears to fix outlook search problems. There is also a workaround which may work for some users which is to make windows use it’s own internal search engine rather than piggy back on the windows one. Customers should not attempt this workaround on their own as it involves editing the registry and mistakes doing this can make your computer unbootable, please call us or create a support ticket by emailing the support email address if you need help with this.
